The Treatment Room
Our practice is designed for kids, and we want them to feel right at home. We’ll take you and your child back to a colorful treatment room where our assistant will prepare your child for the exam. Depending on your child’s age, they can sit on your lap or in the chair.
The Dental Exam
Our pediatric dentist, Dr. Chelsea Zamudio, will introduce themselves and perform a quick but thorough exam. We use kid-friendly language and show them any instruments we’ll be using to ensure they feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Zamudio will examine your child’s teeth, gums, and jaws and evaluate their growth and development.
The Dental Cleaning
Depending on your child’s age and needs, we may perform a gentle cleaning. We’ll use behavioral techniques like tell-show-do and non-threatening language to describe tools and make the experience fun and relaxed. When we clean your child’s teeth, we’ll floss their teeth, remove any hardened plaque, and polish their pearly whites.
A Friendly Conversation
After the exam and cleaning, Dr. Zamudio will discuss your child’s dental health with you. She’ll provide tips on brushing and flossing their teeth and give you advice on when to stop oral habits like thumb-sucking or pacifier use. We’re here to answer any questions you may have, and we’ll let you know when your child should return for their next visit, usually in six months.
